Support for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz is strong—not that you would know it from most mainstream media or polling. How do we keep our hopes up and/or persevere in the face of this? One way is to use your alternative resources, e.g., your social media, your personal support network, allies like Michael Moore, etc. Another way could include these top ads, a new relevant song, and some films.
I. “Cognitive Test” (The Lincoln Project)
Many experts are wondering if Trump truly has dementia or some other form of mental impairment. Not that this is new. There’s been no lack of information out there about his many unworthy-of-the-presidency traits. Just a couple resources for your consideration: the 2020 film Unfit and Bandy Lee‘s book The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump (2017), which now has a 2024 version:
II. “Unstable Threat” (Harris/Walz campaign)
Although he’s described himself as “a very stable genius,” many in his orbit beg to differ. Journalists Carol D. Leonnig and Philip Rucker, who actually titled their 2020 book A Very Stable Genius, also refute his claim. Selected quotes:
Trump’s friends and advisers had long observed that he had an amazing ability to disconnect from facts and remember experiences the way it suited him at the moment…
“I’ve served the man for two years. I think he’s a long-term and immediate danger to the country,” a senior national security official told us.
Another senior administration official said, “The guy is completely crazy. The story of Trump: a president with horrible instincts and a senior-level cabinet playing Whac-A-Mole.”
III. “It Couldn’t Happen Here” (The Lincoln Project)
But it has. In many states, women are being deprived of life-saving medical procedures. Trump/Vance are apparently proud of this. This short film tells powerful stories about the consequences.
IV. “Saved My Life” (Harris/Walz)
As with reproductive choice issues, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz support The Affordable Care Act, which enables more people to receive all kinds of needed health care.
V. “Protector?!” (Seneca Project)
Per usual, Trump cannot be trusted to say the truth. He promises the opposite of what his misogynistic actions have always shown. As a convicted rapist and an alleged perpetrator against many other women, he certainly is no woman’s protector.
VI. “Man Enough” (by Jacob Reed)
Have you ever wondered why many Trump supporters seem to think he represents strong masculinity? Toxic masculinity is more like it. It’s okay to vote against such a destructive dynamic.
VII. “Voters for Trump” (Saturday Night Live in 2016)
This SNL skit was a gut-punch eight years ago, but it’s just as relevant, if not more, today. I don’t want to spoil the surprise—just watch it.

Need a film reminder of who Kamala Harris is running against? Jeremy Strong, who plays Trump’s mentor in conmanship, Roy Cohn, has called it a “Frankenstein movie.” Rules for this “monster?” One: attack, attack, attack. Two: admit nothing, deny everything. Three: no matter what happens, claim victory and never admit defeat. Sound familiar?
